My Thoughts on The Upside

I went to see The Upside with my mom a couple weeks ago and we had a great time. This isn’t going to be a full review, just a few of my thoughts.

I felt a little iffy about going to see The Upside, but my brother mentioned that this was one of Kevin Hart’s first really serious roles. I think he and Bryan Cranston did a great job portraying these roles. Just because they were playing serious roles, doesn’t mean there weren’t a bunch of good laughs thrown in.

Prompt #3: Two books that remind you of someone

The books I chose for this prompt were both recommended to me by some of my favorite teachers. The first one comes from my middle school English teacher, Mrs. Macon. She introduced me to so much literature during that time period.

The Hookup Plan (Show Review)

I had seen this around social media but I hadn’t thought too much of it until I saw Kat gushing about it on her blog. I decided I should watch it, and boy was it worth watching. I finished all eight episodes one after the other. It was beautiful.

The basic premise is that Elsa’s friends are worried about her because she is still obsessed with her ex, despite the fact that he’s now in a relationship. He also cheated on her but that seems to be out of Elsa’s focus. In hopes of helping Elsa, her two best friends pay a male escort to stage a relationship with Elsa and eventually hookup with her, as the name ensues.

I recently watched the film adaptation of Room on Netflix and all I can say is that I was bawling for a chunk of it. It’s about a woman who was kidnapped and had a child, who she names Jack, for her captor. Her son is five years old and she plans to have him escape the room, with or without her.
