Hey y’all! Welcome to my stop for the Hear Our Voices book tour of Come On In. I’m so happy to be part of yet another book tour with Hear Our Voices. Alaya Dawn Johnson’s story was quite an interesting one and I love her answers to my questions so keep reading to see what she had to say.
Hey y’all! This is the last book I’ll be reviewing from the readathon. Training School for Negro Girls was an interesting set of short stories. It reminded me of Heads of the Colored People which I read a few stories from for my African American Literature class last year.
I actually ended up finding out about this book through Goodreads and my library had the audiobook on the CloudLibrary app, so it felt like a perfect chance for trying out this genre.
*Synopsis*
Will is heading out to finish what seems to have started yesterday, when his brother, Shawn, was shot. He’s just trying to follow The Rules: No tears, no snitching, and always get revenge. With Shawn’s gun hidden behind his back, Will is going to kill the guy that he just knows killed Shawn.
When Will gets on the elevator, he’s met by the ghost of an old friend of Shawn’s. At each stop of the elevator, Will encounters another person from the past. With each encounter, another revelation is made.
I was scoping through my blog a few days ago when I realized, I never posted a formal explanation of Two for Tuesday.
Two for Tuesday is something I started doing last year to post my reviews of children’s books but it can also be done with graphic novels, novellas, products, movies, and TV shows. It’s basically just condensing two short reviews into one post.
