Let’s Catch Up (#24)

Hey y’all! My brain had been a little foggy this week so this is going up a little later than I’d like but it’s about time we catch up. So go get your fall themed beverage, a cozy blanket, and sit down so we can catch up!

Life Update

This week feels like it’s been everything and nothing at the same time. I had a few more midterms to get through, some essays and a group project. You may be asking yourself, what kind of professor assigns a group project during a whole pandemic? Apparently my professor. (Thankfully it was done online and we made a powerpoint but that doesn’t mean group projects have suddenly stopped being awful.)

I bought a few plants to add to my collection. I got a Florida native firebush that I’m super excited to add to my backyard. My plant collection is getting so big and I definitely need to put a few in the ground.

It was raining all week which kept me and my grandma from taking our walks. I still go to see her though but we both miss the walking.

I watched both of the Addams Family movies last night and they are so hilarious! It’s been years since I watched them and the jokes are still so relevant and so perfect. I remember loving Wednesday as a kid and those movies just reminded me why.

Blogging Update

So, I’ve kind of sucked at blogging this week. Like I said last week, midterms were really kicking my butt so I’m not going to beat myself up anymore about it. I did end up posting two book review though and I plan on working on finishing up some others so I can post those this coming week.

I’ve still been posting on my bookstagram and I even did a little plant tour on my story to show off my updated collection. I’ve also been posting bookish reels, of course. If you haven’t checked out my page before, now’s your chance:

What Did I Miss?

Now this is the part where I talk about what I posted and you check out what you may have missed. Only two posts this week so that makes your job a whole lot easier.

The Field Guide to the North American Teenager by Ben Philippe Book Review ~ Rae's Reads and Reviews

It’s been well over a month but I finally finished my review for The Field Guide to the North American Teenager. It has rants, it has gifs, and it may have a few of my dried tears. Go check it out if you haven’t yet.

Not So Pure and Simple by Lamar Giles Book Review ~ Rae's Reads and Reviews

This was just the week of super long reviews for me. I usually keep my reviews pretty short and to the point, but I just had so much to say about these books. Check out my review for Not So Pure and Simple by Lamar Giles.

Now Let’s Spark Joy

With a stressful week like that, I’ve definitely needed some extra joy. I stumbled across this YouTube channel and I ended up binge watching so many of her videos:

I especially love Amanda’s videos about Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey. All the videos she does on them are absolutely hilarious. It’s an all around, wonderful time… for the viewer, not so much for Amanda.

This SNL skit has been stuck in my head for the past few weeks. It’s simultaneously a bop and fairly accurate to our current times. Basically, what I look for in good music and skits. The best of both worlds, if you will.

How was your week? What has the weather been like for you? Have you been listening to any bops? Let me know in the comments below, let’s chat!

And that’s all from me this week. It’s been really nice catching up with you and I hope to see you again next week.

  1. Enjoyed the post. It’s getting cold by me. Started wearing a hat when I go outside. Yarn order came in; I’m making a blanket for a cousin as a wedding gift.

  2. Great bookstagram snaps! I don’t know if I’m following you on there, although my booksta is admittedly a little dead-ish, but I’ll find you and follow! It’s been raining a lot on my side of the world too and it’s been a much needed refresher. Hope you get the chance to go walking with your nan soon though! Have a great week 🙂

  3. Love those instagram pics! And it’s great that you read see so many POC/#ownvoices books. I definitely gotta get going on that myself. It’s on my agenda to watch The Addams family movie this Halloween. I’ve heard some pretty great things about it 😀 Yes!! Amanda is amazing. I LOVE her videos. Her commentary is pure gold LOL.

    1. Thank you! I’ve been making it a mission to read diversely since high school 😀

The Addams Family movies are both so good! They’ve aged really well and honestly could’ve been made today but they also have some great early 90s vibes

I’m so happy I stumbled across Amanda’s page, her commentary gets me every time 🙂
