Matching my Favorite Christian Bops to Books

Hey y’all! It’s been more than a month since my matching Gospel songs to books post and I’ve been racking my brain for follow ups. I have several in my drafts but this one popped into my head recently and I thought it’d be perfect for the next segment of this series.

In that first post, I talked about how Gospel music really helped me get through one of the darkest periods of my life. If you’ve ever been in the car with me, you know my radio stays tuned in to Christian stations. I even listen to my Christian Mix playlist to fall asleep. My faith is really important to me and it’s a major part of my lifestyle.

That being said, these aren’t necessarily “Christian books” that I’m matching the Christian bops too. They’re just books I really enjoyed that I can find myself matching these songs to in some form or another. I hope you enjoy this interesting and maybe even find a book or song that you want to check out.

One More Day – Aaron Cole

This is the first song on my Morning Music playlist, and for good reason. It pumps me up on the mornings I’m feeling down. It’s so upbeat, I can’t help dancing along to it.

Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds

Talk about One More Day. Opposite of Always is about Jack reliving more than one day, but he somehow stays upbeat through a whole lot of it. It’s also fast-paced, much like the song. I was serious when I said I wouldn’t be shutting up about it. Jack and Kate live in my mind rent free.

Yippy – Aha Gazelle

Can we just take a second to appreciate the graphics of this music video? It literally is the essence of the song down to each word. Ugh, my inner artist is LIVING.

Jackpot by Nic Stone

Jackpot by Nic Stone

I actually just finished Jackpot this week and this song reminds me so much of Rico. She’s all about getting what she needs and doing whatever it takes to get there. Even though she’s in high school, she’s always on her grind because she knows she has to be.

Sweet Victory – Trip Lee ft. Dimitri McDowell & Leah Smith

Wow, this song came out 5 years ago! It’s been in my Christian Mix playlist for as long as I’ve had that playlist and it’s always a song I go back to. I just love the message of resilience and how having the Lord on my side prepares me for every victory AND loss.

Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam

Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam

In Punching the Air, Amal is going through a really low point of his life and it’s during that time that he is also going through a spiritual journey. Though Amal is Muslim, his spiritual journey reminds me a lot of my own in the times I’ve questioned my faith.

Suicide Nets – nobigdyl

This is one of those songs I can listen to and start to cry. If you’ve been on my page for a while now, you know I’m an advocate for mental health and mental illness awareness. As someone who has suffered with depression, this song is so touching for me. Also, nobigdyl has such a cool vibe.

Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson

Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson

Even though Monday’s Not Coming isn’t about suicide, it is about one friend searching looking out for another, even when the people who are supposed to be there for her aren’t. Claudia cares so much about Monday, even when it seems like no one else does and that’s honestly so beautiful.

Never Alone – Tori Kelly

I absolutely love this song. Tori Kelly’s vocals get me every time.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, #1) by Talia Hibbert

Chloe Brown and Redford Morgan both struggled with feelings of unworthiness. Having each other helped them grow a lot and realize their worth. Also, Red is way too perfect and he’s making my expectation of men too high at this point.

That’s all for me today, so now I want to know what you think!

Have you read any of these books?

Are you into Christian music?

What books would you have picked out for these songs?
