Hey y’all! This past week has been pretty productive for reading. Don’t get too used to these though. School starts next week and I can’t make any promises after that.

What are you currently reading?

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

I’m reading When Dimple Met Rishi for the Indian Readathon and really enjoying it so far. Rishi is absolutely adorable and must be protected at all costs. Dimple is a firecracker who I could see myself being good friends with.

I’m Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones and Gilly Segal

I started this towards the end of last week and it’s a really interesting story but I’ve come to a realization: I’m really tired of reading books about the suffering of Black kids. Not to say that this is a book about the suffering of Black kids, I just really need some more joy in my reads this week. I’ll be coming back to this when I’m in the right head space for it but right now, I just need joy.

Black Girls Must Die Exhausted by Jayne Allen

I started the first few pages and it’s pretty interesting but I’m really in a space right now where I just need some joy so I’ll be continuing on when I feel more comfortable with harder hitting reads.

P. S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han

I tried y’all. I really tried to like this. It just… didn’t do it for me.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

I read Get a Life, Chloe Brown last week and absolutely loved it! I totally get the hype now. I’ve scheduled my review and it’ll be coming up in a few weeks.

Head Over Heels by Hannah Orenstein

I ended up finishing this in a day, not because it was interesting, but because I put it on 2x speed as I went about getting things done. Head Over Heels was a meh read for me.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I put a couple books on hold at the library and I’m looking forward to reading them. These were both suggestions when I asked for disability rep recommendations on Twitter.

When We Collided by Emery Lord

I don’t know too much about this story outside of the synopsis. I’m pretty sure it has mental illness rep and that’s something I’m excited to read.

You’re Welcome, Universe by Whitney Gardner

Again, all I know is the synopsis but this sounds like a really interesting story. The main character is deaf and that’s a perspective I haven’t read before so I’m super excited for that.
