I’m Joining the Out of your Comfort Zone Reading Challenge 2020

I thought I wasn’t going to try any reading challenges this year, but here we are.

So, I was reading Marie’s December Wrap-up on Drizzle and Hurricane Books. Towards the end of these posts, she always includes a little blogger shout out. This particular one led me to Caro’s blog, The Bookcheshire Cat, and her Out of Your Comfort Zone Reading Challenge for 2020. I’m not the biggest with challenges, but I have faith that I’ll actually be able to commit to this one.

This Spring, I’m expecting to have some interesting reads with my science fiction class and my course on literature and environment. Those will definitely be outside of my comfort zone. I haven’t read a single one of the books on our required reading list and I hadn’t heard of most of them before. I’m both excited and a little worried to see what I’ll be getting into.

I already know I’ll be out of my comfort zone, but let’s talk about the badges I’m planning to earn.

Traveler

Out of Your Comfort Zone Challenge Traveler badge

My love of traveling and love of books have come together perfectly in this badge. Just look at that aesthetic. *insert heart eyes emoji*

Based on my required readings for the semester, as long as I get through all of them (fingers crossed) I should be able to get this badge pretty easily. 10/25 books for the year being out of my comfort zone doesn’t sound too bad.

Genre Fan

I feel like I’ve stayed pretty close to Young Adult fiction/contemporary for a while now. I think it would be fun to branch out more and try other genres.

The Favorite

I don’t know if this will happen, considering how much I love YA. Who knows, maybe I’ll find my next 5 Star read in a genre I’ve overlooked.

Are you trying any challenges this year?

What’s your new year’s resolution?
