Down the TBR Hole #3

Here’s another go at Down the TBR Hole. Make sure to let me know what you think.

The Rules

  •  1. Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  •  2. Order on ascending date added.
  •  3. Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books.
  •  4. Read the synopsis of the books.
  •  5. Time to Decide: keep it or should it go

New Math is Murder by Jo-Ann Lamon Reccoppa

New Math is Murder by Jo-Ann Lamon Reccoppa

I haven’t read any adult fiction in quite a while. I do like a good mystery novel every now and then.

Verdict: Keep

Not From Around Here by Larry Hochwald

Not From Around Here by Larry Hochwald

You shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, but you have to admit that this one is awful. I don’t really read fantasy anymore.

Verdict: Let it go

I Liked You When I Thought I was Dead by Casey Renee Kiser

I love poetry and this title draws me in. I wonder if the cat is also going to be relevant to the story.

Verdict: Keep

On the Fence by Kasie West

On the Fence by Kasie West

Like I said last week, I’m just not into romance anymore. I need a full plot with nuance.

Verdict: Leave it behind

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West

This sounds like the plot of a Netflix summer rom-com starring Noah Centineo. To be completely honest, I’d probably watch it. I just don’t want to read it.

Verdict: Leave it

This week I let go of three books and kept two on my TBR. I’m definitely making progress.

Do you participate in Down the TBR Hole?

Have you read any of these books?

How do you feel about Netflix rom-coms?

  1. I liked “Not From Around Here” a lot, though I agree that you would not read it if you are no longer interested in fantasy. i found this blog while searching to see if the author had written any other books. It’s interesting that you think the cover is awful. I have the paperback and I think it’s very evocative and fit the material much better than some of the generic covers of many other books. But then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think this blog is a good idea, but your actual choices to read are the opposite of what i would choose. Good luck, though! Anything to encourage reading! I did find the author’s website in my search, and I forwarded him a link to here so maybe he will weigh in on his cover choice, since it’s an actual photograph with a photographer credit in the front cover.

    1. It’s all a matter of perspective. I personally enjoy book covers that are colorful and artistic, especially those that use graphic design. I don’t like generic covers though, I just prefer more color. I actually dabble in photography, too. If you want to check out some of my own photos of book covers that I personally love, you can check out my bookstagram on the sidebar.

Thank you for checking out my blog 🙂 Most of what I read now is YA contemporary so I understand if it’s not something you’re into. At the end of the day, we like what we like.
