5 Book to Movie Adaptations I Want to See

With the recent news of Elizabeth Acevedo’s With the Fire on High making it’s way to the big screen, it got me thinking of other books that would make great movies.

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo

So, without further ado, here’s my list.

Dear Martin by Nic Stone

Dear Martin by Nic Stone

Dear Martin was such a great read for me at the beginning of 2019. This is a timely story that would be perfect on the big screen. The impact could be similar to that of The Hate U Give but told from a new perspective.

Watch Us Rise by Renee Watson and Ellen Hagan

The story of Watch Us Rise would look pretty nice on screen. As adaptations usually go, there would be some things that would be let go. I would love to see how the directors went about showcasing the alternating points of view.

Still Life with Tornado by A.S. King

It would be cool to see a film adaptation of Still Life with Tornado. It would make for such a cool, surrealistic film. I wouldn’t mind if it was done by an indie film company, I just think it would be cool to adapt it to the big screen.

Turtle All the Way Down by John Green

The mystery element of this novel would look so good on screen. Turtles All the Way Down also has great OCD representation and that’s definitely something we don’t see often in film.

The Boy in the Black Suit by Jason Reynolds

If you know me, you already know I couldn’t get through this list without at least one thing by Jason Reynolds. The Boy in the Black Suit is one of my all time favorite books. It’s a beautiful representation of grief and youth. It would be something you wouldn’t see on screen otherwise. I think it would make a great film.
