Reading Rush Wrap-Up

The Reading Rush is (sadly) over and I had so much fun participating this past week. I finished a grand total of 3 whole books. I also did two of the Instagram challenges.

This makes me want to do another readathon, it’s nice having those challenges and trying to get as many done as you can in the time allotted. Well, let’s get into wrap-up.

Challenges:

1/ Read a book with purple on the cover

2/ Read a book in the same spot the entire time

3/ Read a book you meant to read last year

4/ Read an author’s first book

5/ Read a book with a non-human main character

6/ Pick a book that has five or more words in the title

7/ Read and watch a book to movie adaptation

Bonus/ Read 7 books!

My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich by Ibi Zoboi

My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich by Ibi Zoboi

Status: Pg 115/252

I had already read the first 50 pages before The Reading Rush started and I was hoping to finish it over the week. That being said, I read about 65 more pages, but I’m still only a little over half way through.

I’m trying to get back into middle grade but I don’t think I’m digging this space theme. The release date is August 27th, so I’m hoping to finish it before then.

Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson

Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson

Status: Completed

I listened to the audiobook of Monday’s Not Coming and it was honestly amazing. I didn’t even speed it up, I just wanted this story to go on forever. It was absolutely fascinating and my full review is going to be up in the next couple weeks.

Odd One Out by Nic Stone

Status: Completed

Another audiobook, but definitely not as good. I didn’t like this book nearly as much as I loved Dear Martin. Most of that stems from my disdain of Rae. I didn’t hate it, though. The review will be up next month.

Dear Evan Hansen by Val Emmich

Status: DNF

I started listening to the audiobook, but it just made me want to listen to the musical instead. I doubt I’ll finish this.

Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram

Status: Not Started

This week was all audiobooks for me so I didn’t even start Darius the Great is Not Okay. I did use it for the Day 6 IG challenge, as you can see here. I had it in my purse while I was out on Saturday night and it felt like the perfect moment to take a picture.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

Status: Completed

So, The Poet X wasn’t on my original TBR but I saw it on the CloudLibrary app and it’s narrated by Acevedo herself and I really wanted that experience. It was well worth it and a quick read. I listened to the audiobook while doing the IG prompt for Day 7.
