To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (Movie Review)

I read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han pretty recently. The main reason I read the book was because of all the hype the movie was getting.

I had a feeling I would like the movie better and that feeling proved true. I’m not a big fan of teen romance novels but I love the films. I also feel like this concept works better as a film. The movie did a great job of condensing the book and taking its own turns. I loved the way it played out on screen.

American Street (Book Review)

*Synopsis*

Fabiola has just gotten off the plane from Haiti into the United States. It is her first time back since she was a baby. She is excited to start her new life with her mother as they plan to move in with Fabiola’s aunt and cousins in Detroit. Before they can reach their connecting flight to Detroit, Fabiola’s mother is detained by customs. They don’t believe that she is just here for “a visit.” 

Now, Fabiola finds herself immersed into an American culture that she feels unprepared for. At the corner of American Street and Joy road, Fabiola has important decisions to make. Her fighting cousins, empty fridge, and quiet aunt are just a few of the things this America has in store for her.

Two for Tuesday: My Growing Poetry Collection

Despite not finishing the two books from my first Two for Tuesday Mini Haul, (I’m 3/4 of the way through American Street), I decided to add two more books to my collection. I bought them through the Button Poetry website.
