I’m trying out a new series! If you’d like to participate, just comment down below. Mini-Review Monday is just that, a mini-review on a Monday. It can be on books, products, or TV shows/movies.
Today, I’ll be talking about one of the newest shows on Nickelodeon. The pilot episode came out late November, but the series officially starts in January. I watched the first episode and one of the upcoming episodes through my Xfinity On Demand account.
Stuart and his father move in with Ivy, Leaf and their father after Stuart’s mother goes on duty for the army. Stuart and Ivy’s father’s are brothers with very different approaches to parenting. Ivy runs a charity and Stuart is an inventor. Together, the family takes on some wacky adventures.

I’m so happy to see a show with strong black leads. Stuart’s father has a very dark skin tone, something that isn’t often seen on TV, especially in children’s television. It’s a great show, the representation is on point, and it shows black girl and black boy joy in it’s purest forms. It’s cute, creative and age-appropriate.
I love this review, I haven’t watched TV in forever now. However, after hearing how good this show sounds and that it’s bringing back black families that were once at the top charts in the late 90’s/early 00’s Nickelodeon. I’ll check out the show and see how cool it is.🔥

Yeah, I think there’s a new wave of POC main characters being put out by the TV networks and I’m here for it. If you like this show, you should check out Craig of the Creek on Cartoon Network. The main character is a young black boy and he goes on such creative adventures.
