Rae's Reads and Reviews

A touching story about a young girl and the fun she has with her grandmother. This is a great book for reading with your little ones, especially before bedtime.

pop popClick me!

This is a fun short story about a boy and his grandfather baking together. It’s perfect for reading as a teacher with a young class, or as a parent (or grandparent) reading to their child.

From the brilliant mind of Irene Smalls and Cathy Ann Johnson, comes this wonderful reading pair that you can enjoy with your favorite little ones.

I read these two stories through Netgalley.com in exchange for honest reviews.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (Book Review)

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? is Mindy Kaling’s first memoir dated back to 2011. In it, she talks about her upbringing and how she got into comedy, as well as other experiences she’s had along the way. It’s a quick read that will keep you interested, even if you don’t know all the pop culture references. Kaling makes this feel like more of a conversation than a novel.

I devoured this book in a matter of hours. I couldn’t set it down. I’ve been watching a lot of The Office lately and I’ve watched The Mindy Project in the past, mixed with my hidden love of memoirs, this was a hit for me.

I would give this a solid 4/5 stars.

Summer Book Tag

I spotted this on the Thrice Read blog and decided it was worth a shot.

the sun is also a star

There was a lot of negativity going on at the beginning of this but as the day proceeded, some serious character development went on. I’ll be posting my formal review next month, so keep an eye out for that.

A charming story about a pack rat who is trying to make his home as beautiful as the world around him, in hopes of being happy. Mr. Pack Rat soon finds that being happy has less to do with what you have, and more to do with what you do.

Mr. Pack Rat Really Wants That is a great story, with a wonderful lesson. It’s a great way to teach children that material items aren’t what will lead to happiness. Great for the classroom and as a bedtime story!

This adorable story celebrates the unique abilities of big and small animals of the wild. Some animals are gigantic, while others are tiny, but they each have a strength.

This story is great for teaching your little ones the difference between big and small. It can also be used for teaching kids that like people, animals come in different shapes and sizes, too.

I read these stories as ARCs through Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.
