Today, I almost got in a fight

Hello Lovely Readers,

will shock
How I’m imagining you right now.

Today I’m trying something new. I’m posting something *gasp* personal. As the title suggests, today I almost got into a fight. Rather, I almost took part in starting one.

If you know anything about me, (which you probably don’t, we’re just internet pals or whatever) you’ll know that I’m generally not one for violence. I’m passive aggressive and/or passive and/or usually too tired to do anything anyway.

What I’m about to say will probably sound super childish but keep in mind, I will always be a child at heart. (Whether that’s good or bad is honestly up to you to decide.)

A friend of mine has been angry at me for a couple of weeks now, but she refuses to tell me why. Me being me, I pestered her constantly to try and get an answer and when that didn’t work, I gave up. At least, I tried to.

Today I tried talking to one of her friends, in the hopes that he may have known something, anything, about the grudge this woman was holding against me. This led me down a dead end and I gave up once more. When she arrived, I tried to make some nice conversation but her shoulder was giving me the chills so I decided to give my attention to some other friends who actually seemed to appreciate my presence.

I’m surprised I found an image this accurate.

Seemingly moments later (probably, like, twenty minutes) I turn to hear that this girl’s conversation has turned to something about me. Specifically something that happened two years ago. Something I had told her never to utter again to a living soul (I’m that embarrassed). She was just reciting the story to someone as if it were her own, knowing full well that I was in earshot.

Me, being the incredibly reasonable person that I am, let my reflexes take over and I kicked her in the shin. She, also being an incredibly reasonable person, immediately stood up and began shouting at me. A screaming match ensued and the ultimate goal seemed to be outlasting and utterly destroying the other with words as our weapon.

Not exactly what I was going for, but this will do.

I seem to have won through technical disqualification, seeing as my opponent stormed out of the room with a trail of smoke blowing out of her ears.

Those left at the table were left struck by the fact that I had, as the kids say, snapped. The usual peppy, bubbly, too sweet to handle girl they thought they new had dissipated in a matter of seconds.

In the end, I went on about the situation and moments leading up to it for another twenty minutes. I eventually calmed down and didn’t see the girl again for the rest of the day. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see what’s in store for tomorrow. Wish me luck!

If you’ve been in a similar situation or think you have an advice for how I should handle mine, please comment below. I respond to all comments and I love hearing from you.

Today’s rambling was inspired by Non-Euclidean Sofa. I’ve been reading his blog posts for a little while now and I really  enjoy them. His dark sense of humor and snarky jokes really brighten my dull days. Check him out when you have a chance, I don’t think you’ll regret it.
